It’s Time for the Cheltenham Festival

Tuesday March 4, 2014

If the idea of enjoying four solid days of top notch racing appeals to you, perhaps it is time to grab some tickets for the 2014 Cheltenham Festival. This year it is set to take place between Tuesday 11th March and Friday 14th March. If you want to know a little more about what happens and when, this is the place to be.

There are four distinct days that combine to form the Cheltenham Festival. These are – in order – Champion Day, Ladies Day, St Patrick’s Thursday and Cheltenham Gold Cup Day. Whichever day you choose to attend you are guaranteed some superb sporting action.

You definitely get a real taste of the action too, because you can spend all day at the Festival from 10.30am onwards. This means you can explore the grounds and watch as jockeys and horses get ready for their respective races. The first race sets off at 1.30pm each day, and there are many others following them until the last race is contested at 5.15pm.

The main event is of course Gold Cup Day, the final day of the meeting. The Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup Steeple Chase will set off at 3.20pm, with all eyes on those competing to see who will be making headlines this year. There are seven races in all on the final day though, so you may want to make more than one bet on the people taking part to see if you get lucky.

Of course one of the main attractions for many people is the ability to place a few bets on some of the runners they like the look of. Some people spend time following the Going and the form of the runners and riders to see if they can accurately pick the winners. Others use nothing more than a good feeling and good luck to try and get the results they want!

Whichever way you choose to go, you might just be in with a winning chance to see your chosen horse cross the finishing line in first place at Cheltenham. As one of the biggest events of the horse racing year, this is absolutely unmissable.
